Qalbi Jonitz

Birthdate: 17 February, 1957 URS 23 November, 2022

“Qalbi Jörg-Wolfhart Jonitz was born in Lübeck, Germany, in 1957.

His parents first baptized him Catholic, and later they changed to a different church and he became a Protestant.

Having had an interest in Tibetan Buddhism in his early life  then meeting his first teacher in Egypt,  allowed him to be touched by several traditions.

Qalbi’s searching for the right religion ended and finding begun samewise, when he converted to and embraced Islam as his way to Allah.

He never was shy to speak out if he felt the need to.

Yet Qalbi lived for the directive to embody his name’s qualities.

He was a wonderfully caring and tender husband and a warmhearted, wise Sheikh.

Qalbi was passionate about music and his beloved guitars, and he was a great musician.

After a lifelong career as a male nurse, teacher for nurses, and caregiver for the disabled, he felt ill shortly before his retirement.

He lived each day with trust, self-discipline, humor and bravery.  Even during his illness he still undertook long walks in the forests, feeding his friends the birds, and the cats, and protecting wildlife as much as he could.  He also kept refining his skills in cooking and baking bread.

The only fear he ever mentioned in that time was to slip into disorientation before coma and then maybe doing or saying things that could hurt his wife and those around him.

On 23th of November, 2022 Allah’s Mercy kept Qalbi’s worst fear from happening while on this final journey in the body.

His main vessel broke and his heart spilled over.

In the moment of his Urs, Qalbi fully embodied the qualities of his name.

Qalbi’s body rests in Vienna.”
