2 Memories for “Karima Wallman”

Karima was a warmhearted, generous, and compassionate person, with a universal, embracing outlook…a person who appreciated the spiritual dimension, and at the same time was very grounded. An early riser, she loved to garden, and to beautify her home, and she also loved caring for children.

She was a Healing Conductor, who was very dedicated to the Healing Service, which she led faithfully every week, for many years, and took special care to arrange to have someone else lead it, if she was going to be out of town, or unable to do it for some reason.

She also hosted a number of Sufi events in her home in Portland, Oregon, and was host to Pir Vilayat, Qahira Qalbi and Tansen Muni, and other traveling teachers on occasion, as well. She was repeatedly very gracious in sharing her home with others, and joined us in connecting in heart and spirit at many Sufi gatherings in other places, as well.

Her warm presence will be missed.

I remember Karima as an open heart, kind Mother to the whole Sufi community in the late 70’s here in Portland. Her home was always open to gatherings, her kitchen a gathering place for good coffee and conversation. And most I remember when she found out my wife was pregnant with triplets she said “Oh I want to be a part of that”, and when they were born she came over every morning for the first year and held and fed and gave baths to the girls. In the midst of a busy life she was always a gentle, smiling, loving presence. She was always to me, an embodiment of “Healing Presence”.
