Dakini Marcy Telles

Birthdate:   December 11, 1951

URS date:  November 19, 2015

TELLES, Marcy Rose “Dakini” “The light of the sun,” The love of my life died late at night on November 19, 2015 at home in her bed, pain free, stress free, and at peace, after racing with cancer for almost three years. She was a month away from her 64th birthday. Marcy was a well-known poet, lyricist, composer, opera and musical writer, and in her final year, a novelist. We are establishing a foundation to collect, publish, and perform her work. Remaining are her husband, Kim Allen; her brother, Matthew Telles; her daughter, Gabriel Grace Solmer with her husband, Rob Solmer; and their kids and Marcy’s kidlets, Torin James, Milo Sacha, and Ruby Grace. Marcy’s Memorial is set for the last Saturday in February, February 27th, 2:30 till 5:00 p.m., in the Theater of the Glaser Center, 547 Mendocino Avenue, Santa Rosa. There will be speakers from the different phases of Marcy’s life: her initial Far Rockaway days, her college Buffalo days, her Abode days, and her thirty five years in California, as well as performances by the Occidental Community Choir, Cinnagals, Jef Labes, Mary Reagan, and the entire gathering singing Marcy and Gordon Stubbe’s Music from Home. An informal memorial with food and discussion will follow for a few hours, for all of us to share our remembrances of Marcy, with deli platters, fruit, and soft drinks, in the Glaser Center lobby. We are asking people to bring computer slide shows of photos or videos of Marcy, or poster boards with photos of her to display at this informal program.

One Memory for “Dakini Marcy Telles”

Marcy, how can it be that you have been “gone” for almost 8 years now. It doesn’t seem possible. I think of you so often, with such deep appreciation for who you were/are, for all the amazing gifts and talents you had. I can hear your voice now, with your throw-away lines that were so funny. I also hear your voice rising in song- such a core part of you. Your passing left me questioning the Divine Plan- how could taking you from this life, be in any way of service? You gave so much, and all who knew you loved and admired you. I often find myself missing you and wanting you back. But I just have to contend with your formless self now.
