Dear Friends of Qalbi,
I want to tell you a story about Qalbi because I feel that it may not be an aspect of himself that he shared with everyone.
In February of this year, Qalbi suddenly called me to say that Ghalib & Marifet felt he should contact me in his search for a job. We began a series of emails that continued for a couple of days. In the last of them, I asked him “What do you want to DO?” He answered as though there were three questions: 1) you’ve won the lottery and have no more financial needs, what do you want to do? 2) you’ve got six months to live, what do you want to do? 3) What is the divine purpose of your life, what do you want to do?
In summary, he said that he had accomplished all his career objectives, traveled everywhere on the planet he wanted to, had 20 times as many enlightenment-type experiences he thought any man was entitled to, and without the company of “a lady who loves me and accept me AS I AM,” he could not think of anything he particularly wanted to do.
As a side note, both my husband and I felt Qalbi’s deep desire to erase his footsteps during the month before he passed. I, who have over 10,000 emails in my inbox could not find a single one from Qalbi, as I had suddenly become tidy a day or two after we emailed, and then forgotten to tidy anything else. My husband purchased a laptop from him with 5 different arcane operating systems on it and felt powerfully that the only answer to the conundrum of how to use a new system was to wipe the hard drive clean and begin anew.
In his talks about the laptop, Qalbi revealed to us his website. In a way, this is his legacy. While the internet is here to stay, individual pages are fairly transient; therefore, I recommend you download any files you wish to keep to your hard drive soon. http://modest-proposals.com/
In the days following Qalbi’s transition, I felt his blessing strongly as a rainbow of light and love coming from my heart. May his blessing touch each of you and may it live as long as time.
