URS date: March 3, 2019
Our beloved friend Zakir Tracy Twaddle left his body early Sunday morning, March 3rd, 2019, at his rural home in northern Boone County, near Columbia Missouri. He was born and raised in Missouri, but lived in the Bay area for several years in the 1980s. He resided at Sami Mahal and was a dear friend of Hassan Mastan, Vasheest Davenport, Jalaluddin Loras, Murshida Vera Corda, Mariam Baker, Nizamuddin Robinson, Imam Bilal Hyde and many others. He was humble, unassuming, and didn’t like to stand out. Once while at a Jamiat gathering, while waiting in line to use the bathroom, he found himself standing next to Pir Moineddin, who turned to him and said, “Oh, you’re a wallflower, too, just like me.” I was married to him for 25 years, and he helped me raise my three children. My daughter Sarah Kendall, who helped him with his coffee roasting business since she was in her early teens, is a second generation coffee roaster and inherited the business, Z Best Coffee Company, after he was diagnosed with cancer in March of 2015. He was a wonderful friend to a great many people, a lover of poetry, a skilled massage therapist, drummer, zikr leader, and gifted astrologer, and will be missed but remembered fondly by his many friends who loved him dearly.
